Fishing Update

I apologize for the delay on fishing reports.  Had some boats out this weekend and from the sounds of it, it fished fairly well.  Red and purple rock worms, leeches, midges, scuds and eggs all accounted for fish.  We were certainly getting use to the great early spring weather that we were greeted with last week and course mother nature changes her mind quickly that winter is certainly not over yet, as we have recieved a fair amount of snow the last couple of days.  The extended forecast shows that the weather should improve for few days, switching back to cooler weather by the weekend.  We are wrapping up our bird season at the end of March so its not to late to take advantage of one last cast n' blast before we shut down for the spring.  Give us call we can set you up with a hunting or fishing trip.

Carp Fly Fishing

Fly fishing for Carp is a unique experience, one that every fly fisherman should try. These fish will challenge you technically and test your landing skills. Many people compare our Carp fishing to Red fishing on the flats. We use a flats boat on various area lakes, chasing these spirited fish. We commonly find these fish in the shallows tailing for crawfish and leeches, or on the surface slurping spent wing bugs in the foam. This makes for some fun casting and an even more exciting hook up. For any angler that has never felt the strength and speed of a Carp you are missing out.

Crazy Rainbow Fly Fishing Guides Local Lakes, Casper Wyoming

Our guided trips are set up for two anglers, with only one fishing at a time, similar to how you would fish on the saltwater flats. We typically run these trips May through September when the Carp fishing is at it’s best.

Equipment is provided as part of the trip at no added cost.  However, if you are looking to bring your own gear we would recommend 7 or 8 weight rods with quality reels.

Trips start early in the morning and run about 8 hours long. The cost per trip is $425.00 and can be booked through the Ugly Bug Fly Shop at (307)-234-6905.

Waters We Guide

The North Platte River has its beginnings in the high mountains of Colorado, entering Wyoming as a freestone river of excellent trout habitat. As the river continues across Wyoming, a series of dams creates tailwaters and a variety of trout fishing scenarios.

Long recognized as a Blue Ribbon trout fishery, the people of Wyoming, along with both state and federal agencies, have worked together to ensure this resource is protected. The North Platte River from the Wyoming line to Casper is managed first and foremost as a trout fishery. Development and livestock grazing are limited, and water flow is closely monitored in order to produce superior trout habitat.

Crazy Rainbow Fly Fishing Waters we Guide

Much of the North Platte River runs through the checkerboard land ownership pattern common in western states. The streambank and underlying river bottom along private land is not accessible to the public. Because of this land ownership pattern, private access is a large part of what makes fishing the North Platte with Crazy Rainbow so unique. We own large parcels of land adjacent to the river where our clients can walk/wade and enter and exit the river where ever they please.

Three notable stretches of the river are viewed as prime fly fishing spots: the Grey Reef tailwaters, Fremont Canyon, and Miracle Mile.

The local lakes provide you added Crazy Rainbow Carp Fly Fishing Experience to your trip. Many people compare our Carp fishing to Red fishing on the flats.
